The Position  

Boehringer Ingelheim is looking for Advanced Data Analyst/Data Scientist for its regional Center of Excellence team “EUCAN Advanced Analytics” located in Vienna. The members of this team will be responsible for driving advanced analytics capabilities and providing business-critical insights in the area of Human Pharma (Marketing & Sales, Medicine), and make them available to various user groups across EUCAN region (Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel, Canada).
This position will be bringing unique value to the organization by fostering insights, expertise, and collaboration across all EUCAN markets. It will advance decision making in EUCAN, by leveraging high-quality analytical expertise and driving standardized and consolidated insights, to empower teams to focus on patient and customer engagements.
Due to the implementation of a new platform, this position’s focus will change in course of year 2022: At the beginning, the focus will be on advanced data analysis topics, providing classical backend business intelligence expertise. Towards the end of the year, the position will be transformed or developed to develop and drive new innovative data science use cases.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You will apply/develop/optimize advanced algorithms (statistical or AI/ML) for the relevant business questions
  • You will drive innovation and adoption of innovation by exploring the data and how to apply advanced analytical techniques
  • You will communicate across different data stakeholders to ensure the right data is managed and handled by the right groups
  • You will actively engage in data integration by being the expert for all things related to data analysis and processing to support the team with expertise and guidance
  • You will be a critical part of the innovation process, by providing critical inputs and technical expertise
  • You will manage and drive data sourcing, including all aspects of the data supply chain


  • University degree (Economics/Business Informatics/Mathematics) or equivalent work experience with 5 – 10 years experience in a similar data analyst, data scientist or business intelligence consultancy position, preferably in pharmaceutical industry 
  • Excellent skills in data analysis and being able to turn data into actionable insights, using common scripting languages (e.g. R, Python)
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, Exasol) and SQL, experience with data integration tools and / or the Amazon Web Services is a plus
  • Experience with project and demand management, including agile methods (e.g. Scrum) and tools (particularly Atlassian Stack / Jira)
  • Knowledge and understanding of visualization tools to complement data analysis are a plus (particularly Tableau)
  • Fluency in oral and written English, German or any other language is a plus, in combination with very good communication and presentation skills as well as an innovative and self-motivated personality with high customer orientation

We offer an attractive salary package in line with your qualification, experience and individual competencies. The base pay is composed of a market oriented excess payment and the respective amount according to the Austrian collective agreement (at least € 65,000 gross per year/full-time)
