The Position
Computational Biology and Digital Sciences (gCBDS) is a global organization across multiple sites at Boehringer Ingelheim: Vienna (Austria), Biberach (Germany), and Ridgefield (USA). With immediate effect, we are currently hiring a Computational Biology (Associate) Principal Scientist in Vienna, Austria.
In our Therapeutic Area focused Computational Biology team we’re looking for a computational biologist to explore new territory of cancer specific antigens, looking beyond the known proteome into the genomic dark matter. Using state-of-the-art computational methods and omics data we discover and strengthen new therapeutic concepts, provide faster and improved decision making, ultimately developing impactful therapies for our patients.
The successful candidate will work closely with research teams in the Therapeutic Area Cancer Immunology and Immune Modulation, together driving the discovery of novel cancer antigens for a diverse set of treatment modalities like T-cell engagers, cancer vaccines, and antibody drug conjugates.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Combine and analyse multi-omics cancer data sets using state-of-the-art methods in the field of cancer antigen discovery and immune oncology
- Actively provide data driven proposals for novel, therapeutically relevant cancer antigens
- Present results to internal and external stakeholders, work with top-tier academic institutes and CROs
- Guide experiment design and data production/acquisition efforts
- Establish and drive scientific collaborations within the company, top academic institutes, and external partners
Requirements
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, biology or similar disciplines with strong quantitative focus
or
Alternatively, master’s degree with long-term professional experience - In-depth knowledge in advanced analysis of data from multiple omics domains including transcriptomics (RNAseq, scRNAseq, Ribo-Seq), proteomics (HLA-ligandomics), TCR-seq, and genomics data sets
- Expertise in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in conducting projects in human disease biology, ideally with a focus on cancer immunobiology
