DSM Nutritional Products at the Grenzach site is the competence center for the production of vitamins within the international dsm-firmenich group. A total of 700 employees are responsible for the production of vitamins. In this role you ensure that the site’s Health and Occupational Safety Management System meets legal and corporate requirements. You will connect actively with all relevant stakeholders, will work closely with authorities. You will develop your small team, contribute to the improvement of the site SHE performance and the SHE culture and act as role model for safety and inspirational leadership.

Your key responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a health management system (processes and workflows) according to SHE philosophy, policies & guidelines, and respect local legislation. Ensuring the SHE conformity of the site regarding health and occupational safety management, including the creation of SOPs.
  • Supporting and advising site management, managers and employees on health and safety issues and SHE-related legal regulations and obligations. Evaluation, planning and implementation of SHE relevant training
  • Lead the safety culture team in order to improve the safety culture of the entire organization. Define, drive and implement actions in that context
  • Participate or lead incident investigations, promote learning from incidents. Execute safety tours.
  • Participate to internal audits in Grenzach and other dsm-firmenich sites
  • Participate or lead projects to improve SHE performance
  • Ensure connection to the SHE network and share best practices / learnings from SHE incidents to the organization

You bring

  • Master & Bachelor degree in safety, engineering, chemistry or similar.
  • Preferable graduated as Safety Engineer.
  • MANDATORY: Qualification as “Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit” according to German law (Berufsgenossenschaft Chemie)
  • Good communication, leadership and social skills, networker
  • Familiar with chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of German safety regulations and ability to interpret them
  • High level of conceptual and analytical thinking
  • Good understanding of production and construction site processes and their challenges
  • MANDATORY: very good German and English language skills
